IBFN Volunteer's Participate in the Inaugural "Hoosier Outdoor Experience"
The inaugural “Hoosier Outdoor Experience” September 26th and 27th at Fort Harrison State Park drew 13,300 attendees for the event, which included a one-day program for selected elementary school students followed by two days of free activities for the general public
Visitors to the Hoosier Outdoor Experience were able to enjoy hands-on participation in nearly 50 outdoor activities. Some of the more popular events were trap shooting, archery, mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking, fishing, building wildlife boxes, and riding off-road vehicles
The IBFN provided 10 volunteers for fishing on Saturday, September 26th. We had a continual stream of young anglers, many who had never fished before. They learned how to bait a hook, cast, and many learned how to take a fish off the hook. In addition to our sponsorship of the bank fishing, there were other activities at the pond including bow fishing, fly fishing, and RC boats.
The weather was perfect and all our volunteers stayed busy throughout our shift. The DNR was very appreciative of our participation, as well as all the visitors to the fishing venue.
The 2010 event will be held on September 18-19, 2010 again at Fort Benjamin State Park. Mark your calendars – we will be doubling our participation next year!

Hello Indiana Bass Federation Nation Volunteers & Friends!
It's time for our annual IBFN Volunteer event, the Hoosier Outdoor Experience. We have selected this event again this year as our conservation project to help teach kids from Indiana how to fish. Please forward this to all the members of your clubs as soon as you can, please. We need to triple our volunteers from 10 volunteers last year to 30 this year!!
To register for your volunteer shift for the Hoosier Outdoor Experience please follow the steps below to volunteer. It's online and easy and only takes a couple of minutes.  Please pick the shift (or two shifts please) if you can on September 18. We made a promise to the DNR that we would have all the volunteers they will need for Saturday, Sept 18. If you want to help out on the 19th as well, that is up to you, but I have made no promises to the DNR for that day.
To register, visit: http://www.in.gov/dnr/5412.htm

1) Click on "Fishing in Indiana" and select "1" as the quantity of people  (if there are more than one of you, go through the sign-up process again for the 2nd person)

2) Fill out your contact info on the next page
Select "yes" for the question if you are a member of an organization
Type in "Indiana Bass Federation Nation" in the Activity Provider Organization field

3) Select all the shifts that you can work on the 18th! The options are:

     8:00 am - noon
     11:30 am - 3:30 pm
     3:00 pm - 7:00 pm

After you sign up, an email will be sent to you with a Volunteer Parking Pass. Print out the Parking Pass and take it with you on the 18th.
I've included the Q & A document that will explain everything about the event to you (where to park, how to register at the park, etc.).
The Bank Fishing event will need volunteers to help fix rods/reels (there are a LOT of tangled lines!!) as well as volunteers to help the kids fish.  If you want to bring a friend that doesn't know much about fishing, we can certainly use them to untangle poles!
Please register as soon as you can and feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.
I need your help to get this message out to as many people as we can !!!!
Thank you in advance for your help!
